Independent and non-profit organisation, the European Historic Houses aisbl is the only organisation able to stand for the private owners of historic buildings, their garden and their parks.

Consulted by the European institutions, the European Historic Houses aisbl is registered under Belgian law and has its head office is in Brussels. We are an umbrella organisation gathering 27 national associations of historic houses which represents around 50 000 privately-owned historic houses across Europe. Our principal objective is to secure at the European level, favourable measures for the conservation and the sustainable development of private historic houses. Some issues are considered as top priorities such as inheritance tax, low VAT-rate, energy efficiency in buildings and the illicit trafficking of cultural goods. The European Historic Houses aisbl consists of two bodies, the General Assembly and the Executive Committee.

Composition of the General Assembly

The General Assembly consists of the Governors of the 27 national associations (most of them are the Presidents of these associations or their deputies) who are either members of the European Historic Houses aisbl or observers. They meet once a year.
