Posted on 20 May 2016
On the occasion of its first “Field Trip” edition in Vienna, the European Historic Houses Association notably organized a seminar in the well know Schönbrunn Palace. This year, we tackled the issue of “Preservation & Maintenance in Private Historic Houses” by exchanging “Smart Recipes and Good Practices”.
After opening speeches from Alexander Kottulinsky, President of Österreichischer Burgenverein, and Rodolphe de Looz-Corswarem, President of the European Historic Houses Association, the floor has been given to the 4 panelists from a variety of backgrounds.
Dr. Andreas Lehne, head of the department for Inventory and Research at the Bundesdenkmalamt, started by presenting the role of this institution in the preservation of buildings in Austria. He has then been followed by Dr. Jochen Käferhaus, Professor at the Fine Arts University Vienna, who has given the participants a sample selection of intelligent solutions and alternative sources of energy that might be used in historic buildings. The following speaker, Dr. Wolfgang Kippes, Former Director of Schloss Schönbrunn, addressed the issue of fire prevention in historic houses by taking our seminar venue as an example. Finally, Dr. Soraya Stubenberg, an Austrian private owner, discussed the financing of private historic houses in order to conclude the panel.
