Taxation

The issue on taxation is central for the European Historic Houses. Historic buildings represent less than 1% of real estates buildings in Europe but there are generating a large amount of the annual revenue for the industry of tourism, a large part of the European economy.

A reduced VAT rate for the renovation and maintenance of Historic buildings could provide the public authority with an instrument to transfer a fair part of this income back to the non-profit sector.

The taxation issue is also of particular importance with regard to issue of transmission.
